This is Steve with his 8-point buck that he harvested in Pennsylvania.
…”I killed it with one of your bamboo arrows. The arrow stopped the deer within 50 yards. The arrow is still in good shape and I will use it again. Thanks for the excellent arrows.”
New to my inventory is what I call a “U-Finish” self bow.
This bow has been tillered and sanded and all you have to do…is put a finish, grip and shelf on it. Personally, I like to use Birchwood Casey Tru Oil, but you can use any finish you choose.

Made of smoked brain tanned leather with fringe at the bottom. It is 6″ wide at the top and 4″ wide at the bottom. Made with blue trade wool and glass seed beads. The strap is fully adjustable. Holds 1 dozen arrows.
The Primitive Hunter Style Longbow is a flat self-bow, crafted of high quality Hickory center wood, backed with raw hide. Available either right or left handed and made specifically to your draw length and poundage. (30#, 35#, 40#, 45#, 50#, 55#, 60#)
This longbow is named Primitive Hunter because it is a wide, pyramid shaped longbow that enables this longbow to be custom made with a shorter draw length. (63″ at a 28″ draw length)
Crafted with a natural flat stain finish, it’s available in different lengths based on your draw length. Bow lengths are from 55″ to 67″.

Recently, I’ve had many customers ask me about traditional longbows for their kids. Longbows are simple and real easy to shoot, provided they are the proper draw weight. It’s not fun for a child to try to pull and shoot a longbow if it’s too hard. They won’t be very accurate and their confidence will suffer.
My grand daughter just out grew her kids Bear fiberglass bow. Her Bear bow belonged to her mom (my daughter). It’s close to 45 years old and still works great, however my grand daughter was ready for a step up.
I had a new English style longbow in my inventory and let her try it. Boy, she just loved it. It’s her favorite bow to shoot and she’s very accurate with it. It’s just the right draw weight. It’s 35# @28″ and 64″ long.
As she grows, this bow will grow with her. She isn’t drawing it back fully yet, so I made her shorter arrows for her draw.
Here’s the best part…as she gets stronger and taller, she can still use the same bow, but will only need longer arrows.
So, for the investment of $150, these lighter English longbows are perfect for young archers. Watch this video of my grand daughter shooting the English longbow and see how accurate and comfortable she is.
It’s a Bamboo backed Hickory Longbow that comes with three custom made arrows. It’s a beauty which I am very proud of.
This longbow is 60″ long with a 35 lb. @ 27″ draw and right handed. I stained the bow an Osage color and hand painted the design. For decoration, I also added a glass primitive arrow head and brown rabbit fur around the leather grip.
Included in this set are three 27″ long, 5/16″ diameter POC arrows. The feathers are both glued and tied down.
This all can be yours for only $225 plus shipping.

Since hunting season has officially begun, I wanted to post a picture of my good friend, Harry Mitchell. He lives in South Dakota and is a traditional bow hunter. Harry’s pictured here with his traditional harvest and the hickory longbow he used for the hunt.
Last weekend, I went out to my favorite archery club, Tomahawk Archers. They’re located in Temperance, Michigan, near the Ohio border. They’re real nice folks and always treat me right. I enjoy meeting the archers and talking about my longbows and handmade arrows.
We took some photos at Tomahawk Archers and put together a nice gallery to show what I have available for sale. I have traditional longbows, English style longbows, and my custom painted “Medicine Bows”. Fir and bamboo shaft arrows and custom made quivers.
I have new one of a kind throwing tomahawks for sale. Info. and pictures coming soon for those!
Just give me a call to discuss specifications and prices. Bows start at $150 and arrows start at $8 each. I accept money orders and credit cards that can be paid by invoice through Pay Pal.
With hunting season upon us, I wanted to share some pictures of deer taken with a traditional hickory longbow. This is Pat Mitchell with her traditional harvest taken with a bamboo backed hickory longbow.
My good friends, Harry Mitchell and his wife Pat live in South Dakota and only hunt Pope and Young deer.
Pat Mitchell
As you can see, Harry and Pat have had good hunting seasons with their traditional longbows. All of these deer were shot from 20 yards or less. The hickory bamboo backed longbows are accurate and real good for hunting.
The Mitchell Bucks proudly displayed in their living room.
I’ve got many bamboo backed hickory longbows for sale and ready to be shipped for this season’s hunt.
Starting at $150, it’s an affordable way to try out traditional archery. Give me a call at 313-318-4185 for more info.
Today I just finished another handmade bow. I sure love to make these longbows. This one really came out nice. I used brown leather dye on the bamboo and it came out just beautiful. I’m real happy with the way I painted the hand rest. The green paint looks great against the deep color of the stained bamboo. I finished it off with three coats of Birch wood Casey True Oil.
Another fine longbow, if I don’t say so myself! ,
This longbow is 64 inches long, right handed, 45 lbs @ 28″ draw and comes with a one year warranty.
